About the Movie

“Blue Is The Warmest Color” (“La vie d’Adele”), the only Lesbian film that left me gasping for air! An Abdellatif Kechiche’s romance drama that won the Louis Delluc prize, a prestigious French film award. It courageously dives into a young woman’s first encounter of love and her experience of sexual awakening. Based on the 2010 French graphic novel of the same name by Julie Maroh, it unanomously won the Palme d’Or and the FIPRESCI Prize  at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival. It took the Cannes Film Festival in great awe not because of the unflinching candor of emotions but its attempt to break society’s norm of how love is defined to its purest.

It centers on the remarkable 15 years old girl named Adèle (Adèle Exarchopoulos), who like most youngsters, dreams of discovering life and experiencing first love’ til she met Emma (Léa Seydoux), a young woman with blue hair. The encounter led to an intense and twisted romance, that changed Adèle’s life. Towards the end, it portrayed how devastating it is to lose somebody you love.

Lesbian Perspective. It is one of the hottest, mouth watering, Lesbian film that I have ever watched since the day that I learned how to kiss girls. A quote from “thedailybeast.com” review of the film:

“After sharing a few kisses in the park, the sexual tension builds to a fever pitch, resulting in a seven-minute paroxysm of sexual desire replete with clawing, slapping, scratching, moaning, and howling. Adèle and Emma contort themselves into a plethora of sexual positions. It’s feral, an explosion of their desire for one another.”

“The clawing, slapping, scratching, moaning and even howling” are enough for me to get my point straight. I am not implying any perverted aggressions in here but I would really commend the film in terms of bed choreography, just kidding.  I suggest wearing a seat-belt if you plan to watch this film. It isn’t just about the plethora of sexual positions but how the film portrayed a melting pot of emotions such as love, lust, desire, anger, hope to name a few. Here is the trailer of the film, I hope you enjoy!
